This morning I adventured out into the country to a “pick-your-own” farm. This time of the year they had strawberries and black raspberries. If you have never gone to pick your own berries, I would highly recommend it! I got a good tan, and some healthy (pesticide free) amazing berries. I knew I needed to make something with them so I didn’t just sit and eat them all until I got sick. I decided that lemon raspberry scones sounded delicious. Here is the recipe I found, it turned out delicious. Definitely making this again. I can’t wait to go pick more berries next weekend. BAKE ON, BITCHES!
I believe I have recently professed my love of lists and of Buzzfeed. I found another great list from Buzzfeed of 29 Food You Didn’t Know You Could DIY. Included on the list are:
- Tater tots
- Magic shell ice cream coating
- Klondike bars
- English Muffins
- Greek Yogurt
- Sesame Sticks
- Marshmallow Creme
- Homemade Raisins
- DIY Mustard
- Cinnamon Toast Crunch
- Cream Cheese
- and many more!
I didn’t think it was possibly to create such an incredibly delicious dessert with no dairy products… My mini me twin is vegan so we decided to give this recipe from Veggy Wood a try. We only ate half the pan in the first sitting, sooo I guess it turned out okay. The recipe looks super long and intimidating, but don’t worry. It’s not difficult at all. Purchasing lady fingers cuts out a lot of the prep time.
In attempt to be more conscious of the processed foods I am putting in my body, I decided to try to make my own English muffins. I was a little bit intimidated, but for my first attempt I was quite pleased! I found a recipe from Alton Brown on the Food Network website, but I ended up preparing them a bit differently than the original recipe. See my notes at the bottom. BAKE UP, BITCHES!
I was really really craving carbs today. So, I went in search of a (quick) relatively healthy recipe. The quick requirement cut out lots of bread options… Okay, pretty much most traditional bread recipes. I decided upon this Lemon Scone recipe. I had all the ingredients (for once!) and it had very good reviews. They turned out so amazingly soft, flaky, and buttery. I nearly ate the entire batch straight after I took them out of the oven. Seriously. So. Good.
THESE COOKIES ARE THE SHIT. This recipe is just from the back of the bag of Reese’s peanut butter chips that you can buy at most grocery stores. It is hands down one of my favorite recipes. These are always a huge hit at parties and disappear from my office kitchen in a matter of minutes. So, you should probably make them. BAKE ON, BITCHES! (more…)
I am on a mild health kick currently. I am trying to work out at least 5 days a week, eat healthy, and get enough sleep. Sounds so easy in theory, right? Shit, was I wrong. Said healthy kick was my initial motivation to try and make oat bran muffins. I was not totally sold at first that they were going to taste even halfway decent. However, I was pleasantly surprised! Check out the recipe below. I just used the one off my box of oat bran, because, I’m really creative and all. (more…)
Sorry, I can’t help you there. But you can still read this blog if it makes you feel better about yourself. Welcome to Bitchin’ in the Kitchen! (more…)
